Unequal Enforcement of Covenants

Surfside HOA, Ocean Park, WA

Unequal enforcement of Covenants has reached an all time high in Surfside. Have you been a victim of this? Tell us your story. Surfside switched from “complaint” to a “compliance” program, yet is the compliance enforced equally for all? What are the pros and cons of each program? Are the covenants being changed just to “get” someone or to favor the “Elite Faction”? What are your thoughts? What is the solution?

  1. Yes you could say we’ve been the victim of unequal covenant enforcement! Received our lighting complaint last July 2019, corrected what was written as problems, appealed to the BOT in September, appeal denied and still waiting for written response from the BOT as to what the problem is. In the meantime you drive around Surfside any evening and see numerous lighting violations as the covenant is presently written. We are totally against compliance driven enforcement. It only justifies the hiring of compliance officers. The current covenant could very easily be modified and kept simple. I certainly hope the work being done by the Architectural Committee keeps it common sense and easy to understand.
